Have
you got a story that would inspire others?
Taking
a chance and doing something completely
different can be very daunting at any
age. If you are approaching or are beyond
50, change can be even more challenging.
But for many – whether or not they
saw it coming - this is what life, and
circumstances, dictate. It may be redundancy,
it may be divorce, it may be inadequate
funds to see you through, or it may be
the horror of projecting your mind into
the future and thinking “is
this it?”
Whatever
the reason, you're not alone. Somebody
somewhere is in the same boat and, indeed,
may have been there before you, met the
challenge head on and emerged with a lifestyle
and attitude that now completely outshines
what they had before.

Choice, chance or circumstance?
Of
course, the change in your life may also
result from deliberate choice. Perhaps
you made a decision to make a radical
career change, to undertake some physical
challenge or adventure you’d only
ever dreamt of, to move abroad, or to
completely alter your lifestyle in some
other hugely significant way. If so, we’d
love to hear about it.
What
we want to do here is share examples of
others who have taken up the challenge.
It may be via newspaper or magazine articles
that we refer to, books we can recommend
or mini case studies. The objective is
to take note, be inspired and be determined
and to learn from the experience of these
role models – both in terms of what
has gone well for them and their mistakes
along the way.
So
if you would like to share your story
with us for possible publication on the
site, please do get in touch. (Although
we are in awe if your name is Rowling,
Branson or Gates, your stories are well
documented and possibly not immediately
relevant to in my primers.)
We
are hoping eventually to collect your
stories together and publish them as a
book, so do contact us as soon as possible. Click
here to see the details we need -
and if you have friends, family or colleagues
with inspiring stories you think they
would be willing to share, please refer
them to us too.
